Safety first: Use this procedure only for an accidental Clean-mode selection and follow the current Truma instructions for the installed AquaGo. Stop for leaks, freeze damage, propane odor or electrical damage.

AquaGo owners sometimes bump the analog dial into Clean mode and discover that turning it back does not immediately restore hot water. Truma identifies this as one of its common customer-care calls. Once the control has remained in Clean beyond the short cancellation window, the heater expects the cleaning-flow sequence to finish.

The burner normally stays off during this flush sequence. The goal is to give the AquaGo power and water, let the circulation routine finish, then perform an orderly shutdown before returning to Eco or Comfort.

First decide whether Clean mode actually started

If the dial was moved to Clean and returned to Eco or Comfort within about 30 seconds, normal operation may resume without the full sequence. If the amber light continues its slow flash after that window, assume the appliance has entered Clean mode.

Do not keep spinning the dial or rapidly cycling power. Confirm the RV has water pressure and the AquaGo has its normal 12V supply.

Set up the appliance for the recovery sequence

  1. Confirm the AquaGo circuit has power at the RV's main panel.
  2. Place the exterior AquaGo rocker switch in the On position.
  3. Set the inside analog dial to Clean.
  4. Wait for the circulation pump to begin cycling.

If the wall control has been asleep, slowly moving it off and back to Clean may be needed to wake it. Do not proceed if the mixing vessel is empty, the drain lever is open or the plumbing may be frozen.

Run hot water until the amber flashing stops

Open a hot-water faucet and maintain water flow. Truma notes that the sequence can take 15 minutes or longer. The circulation pump may start and stop during the process, and the burner should not ignite.

Let the cycle finish rather than closing the faucet as soon as the pump pauses. The amber indicator should stop flashing when the flush portion is complete.

Understand the code at the end

After completion, the exterior green status light goes out and the red LED can display code 31: three short flashes followed by five long flashes. In this situation, code 31 means decalcification complete. It is a completion message, not a reason to replace a part.

Return the AquaGo to normal operation

  1. Move the exterior rocker switch to Off.
  2. Turn the inside analog dial to Off.
  3. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  4. Turn the exterior rocker switch back On.
  5. Select Eco or Comfort on the inside control.

The green exterior status light should return solid. If the wall control does not respond immediately, wake it with a slow, deliberate off/on movement rather than rapid switching.

If the amber light will not clear

Recheck 12V power, exterior switch position, water pressure, bypass-valve position and whether air is trapped in the hot lines. A flow problem can prevent the sequence from completing. Record any red fault pattern and use the AquaGo code guide.

If decalcification tablets were actually loaded, if the filter cartridge or drain lever is not seated, or if the unit leaks during the process, stop and follow the full Truma decalcification instructions or contact Truma service.

Avoid the same problem next time

Make sure the control dial cannot be bumped by stored items, children or pets. Explain the Clean position to anyone using the RV. Annual decalcification is real maintenance, but it should be started deliberately with the correct Truma tablets and instructions—not as an improvised response to poor hot-water performance.

Repair difficulty and likely outcome

  • Accidental Clean-mode recovery: beginner-level when the appliance has power, water and no damage.
  • Flow, pump or repeating fault-code diagnosis: moderate to professional.
  • Leaks, freeze damage or combustion concerns: stop and arrange Truma-qualified service.
  • Strongest clue: a slow amber flash after the dial has remained in Clean longer than the cancellation window.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Truma AquaGo amber light flashing slowly?

A slow amber flash can indicate the AquaGo has entered Clean mode and is waiting for its required water-flow sequence.

How long does AquaGo Clean-mode recovery take?

Truma says the flowing-water portion can take 15 minutes or longer while the circulation pump cycles on and off.

What does AquaGo code 31 mean after Clean mode?

In this context, code 31 means the decalcification sequence is complete. Finish the shutdown and return-to-mode steps.
